Same old theme about a Christian boy falling in love with a Hindu girl. The first half is wasted, with a lot of meaningless scenes. The second half contains the entire story.
Siluvai (Vijay) falls in love with Soolayudham....sorry! Sangeetha
(Suvalakshmi). But in the village, a precedent had already been set by
Sangeetha's sister eloping with a Christian boy and the villagers had killed each other
because of this. So, to save any further massacre, our 'Ilaya dhalapadhi' solemnly
vows that such incidents will not happen again. To keep his word and also to
maintain peace in the village, he sacrifices his love. Raghuvaran comes in as the
mappillai for Suvalakshmi. But, upon hearing Siluvai's story, gives a great speech
to the villagers and unites Siluvai and Soolayudham!
Not impressive, huh?! So, don't waste your time and money by watching it in the theater. Vijay is his usual self, loafing around with - you guessed it! : 4 friends! (What's with these directors?!) Raghuvaran has given a good performance as usual. It is high time Manivannan changed his style. It is beginning to get on our nerves. Nee Kaatru Naan Maram is the only noteworthy song - mainly because of Vairamuthu's lyrics.
